We had a great weekend, the days just went so quick, on the recommendation of Claire McConville and James Mullan we booked into a great guest house at Annagulgan, run by Maureen & Ownie Callaghan , if ever you go to stay in Roslea you must stay here, the accommodation and food were first class and Maureen & Ownie were the nicest people you could ever wish to meet.

Maureen had arranged for Oliver McCaffrey who runs the Heritage centre, to give us all a tour of the centre, we were able also to look at the baptism records for St Tierneys and discovered the names of Bernard Rooney's children at Kilcreen .

On our first day we went to St Tierneys and searched through all the gravestones, we made notes and took photo's of all the Rooney gravestones and stones that we thought were related to ours, such as Cassleys and McCaffrey's.

We then jumped in the car and drove up to Eshnadarragh in the hope of finding the old farmhouse where my 3xGrandparents James and Bridget lived in the early 1800's.

We parked the car at the old post office at Eshnadarragh and were met by a man who owns the land there now, I think his name was McCloon , we told him we were descendants of the Eshnadarragh Rooney's and he said he would show us the old Rooney farmhouse, this was a truly great feeling, right behind the post office, covered in undergrowth stood the old farmhouse, still standing after over two hundred years.
